Bobby Sanchez, 13, of Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, August 1, 2010, from complications of a brain tumor. Born at Whiteman AFB, MO on October 30, 1996, Bobby was a true “military brat” who lived a life of travel and adventure. Bobby’s favorite past-time was building with his Bionicles and Legos. It was always his dream to be an architectural engineer one day. His favorite vacation was to go on a cruise. He loved music and his iPod was never far from his reach. Bobby was a good human being and he treated people with the utmost respect, young and old. He had a goofiness about him that one couldn’t help but smile at his silly antics. Bobby battled his brain tumor since the age of 2, but he never let it get in the way of his life. Bobby attended both Overland Trails and Blue Valley Middle Schools.
Bobby is survived by his loving parents, Rachelle McDonald of Overland Park, Kansas and Andy Sanchez of Tucson, Arizona; brother and sister Andy and Tatyana Sanchez; maternal grandparents, Bob and Carolyn McDonald of Independence, Kansas; paternal grandmother, Carmen Andino of San Juan, Puerto Rico; and many loving family members, including two cherished cousins, Katie and Tracy Burns-Yocum who, even in the darkest hours, were always able to solicit a smile or a thumbs up from Bobby.
A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be from 10-11:00 A.M. Saturday at the chapel prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
