Her memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2011, at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS. Bonnie Eleen Noland was born on Oct 6, 1921, to Frank Aaron and Bertha Amelia Noland. She spent her childhood in Kansas City, Missouri, graduating from Paseo High School. She was married to Warren Swartz for over 20 years; they moved to Overland Park in 1959, and joined Village Presbyterian Church when it was a small congregation. Bonnie proudly worked on the Plaza for Miller Nichols, President of the J.C. Nichols Company, for 15 years.. She was active in the Kansas City Philharmonic Association and the Plaza Women's Club, and was once on a speakers' panel with Neil Armstrong after his history-making moon walk. Bonnie later worked as a leasing agent, social secretary in the Governor's mansion in Topeka, and insurance agent with The Equitable. In 1977, Bonnie married Del Durham; they enjoyed 28 wonderfully interesting years together traveling, participating in church activities, and hosting events on their property in rural Cass County. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Del, youngest son Rob Swartz, and sister Beverly Miller. She will be sadly missed by her immediate family, who all live in the metropolitan area: son Greg Swartz; son Don Swartz and his wife Nancy; grandchildren Jeff Swartz, wife Danielle and children Emily and Conner; Randy Swartz, wife Marci and children Jadyn and Sawyer; Heather Hartman and sons Gavin and Gage; Keri Gamble, husband Trevor and son Alex Estrada; Neil Swartz, wife Chavon and son Lucas. Bonnie's many friends and relatives treasured her loving attitude, adventurous spirit and cheerful outlook. To honor her love of children, donations may be made in her memory to Children's Mercy Hospital. Arrangements: D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 913-451-1860.
