We are celebrating the life of Brenda Diane Finley … Diane to most, Aunt Diane to others, Mom and then Mimi to a special few.
She was born on April 26, 1942, to Orgel and Sarah Highland Webb in Izard County, Arkansas. Diane went Home on September 25, 2022, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Diane was a small, auburn-haired girl who protested ever so loudly each time her big sister fixed her hair, and who learned how to handle a loving houseful of ornery brothers, too. She soon grew into a lovely young lady who graduated from Mt. Pleasant Hight School in 1960. She married Glen Finley on May 14 of that year, and a great love story began. We use the term “love story” with the broadest of meanings … Because we all know that Diane displayed that quality every day … She LOVED her family and friends, she LOVED serving her church’s needs (anytime food was required, she always went above and beyond), she LOVED working at the Paper Plate for 17 years where she made many friends, she LOVED playing Bunco for 23 years in her church Bunko group (January was her month to host the gathering - and everyone LOVED coming to her home because of the warm hospitality and delicious meals). And speaking of food, Diane LOVED to cook – and was an excellent chef! Who here has experienced her peanut butter balls, beans and cornbread, or homemade lemonade just to name a few of her wonderful culinary creations … Truly delicious!
Most importantly, Diane LOVED and still LOVES Jesus. And He LOVES her. We can all rest in the fact that she is now one with Him and is enjoying the greatest of reunions with those who went before her.
Diane is preceded in death by her sister Nadine and brothers Doyle, Donald, Bob and Gerald.
Diane is survived by her husband Glen Finley of 62 years; sons Michael Finley, Kevin and wife Lynn Finley; grandsons Garrett Finley, Parker Finley, Brady Finley; brother Jack Webb and wife Joyce; special family friend Lori Finley, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly and who will warmly treasure the times they spent with her.
