Bruce Barrow

November 3, 1954 — April 30, 2018

Dr. Bruce Barrow, 63, died peacefully at home in Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by his family on April 30th.  He was diagnosed with a virulent cancer in late February and courageously endured the disease without complaint, never losing his sense of humor.

Bruce Kent Barrow was born in Fulton, Missouri, the son of Clyde R. and Helen Barrow.  He is survived by his son Erik Barrow of Kansas City, mother Helen Barrow of Lake Ozark, Missouri, sister Mona Barrow Ferrugia of Denver, Colorado, and brother Brent Barrow of Alexandria, Virginia.  He is also survived by his former wife of 29 years, Anne Peterson.  Bruce's son Bryan Barrow and his father Clyde Barrow preceded him in death.

Dr. Barrow was a dedicated and skilled dentist who practiced for more than 35 years in Kansas City.  He was known for his professionalism and integrity by his many long time patients and professional colleagues.  He was a graduate of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri and a 1981 graduate of the University Of Missouri School Of Dentistry in Kansas City.  Following dental school he completed a post-graduate, general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota with special emphasis on restorative dentistry.  He then served briefly on the faculty of the UMKC School of Dentistry before joining the practice of Dr. William McGrannahan on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. He later bought the practice and remained in the same location for his professional career. Dr. Barrow is an alumnus of the L.D. Pankey Institute, known for its state-of-the-art continuing education and training of dentists worldwide.

Bruce was dearly loved by his family who cared for him through home hospice until his death. He was grateful for the love and support of his special friend Diane Cripe. He also appreciated his many friends who contacted and visited him during his illness and was thankful for his loyal office staff, April Janssen and Becky Peck.
