Burton, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on February 6, 2007, at the Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2007, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 615 SE Todd George Pkwy., Lee's Summit, Mo. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2007, at the church. Contributions may go to the church. Burton was born on May 7, 1927, in the Franklin Township near Salisbury, N.C. After graduating from high school in April 1943 and working in a cotton mill, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps on May 7, 1944. He was sent to Germany in January 1946, where he met his future wife, Ingeborg Kiesel. They were married in Salisbury, N.C., on November 25, 1947. In June 1952, he graduated from N.C. State University as an electrical engineer and joined Western Electric in Greensboro, N.C. In August 1960, he was transferred to their pilot plant in Grandview and later to their Kansas City Works in Lee's Summit, Mo. He retired from there January 1, 1985 as an Engineering Manager and began teaching electronics at Longview Community College, from which he retired as a professor in June 1993. Burton was Chairman of the Kansas City Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, President of the Lee's Summit Rotary Club, a charter member of St. Matthew and Beautiful Savior Lutheran churches in Lee's Summit and a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri. Burton is survived by his wife and five children: Eric, Bruce and Hans of Lee's Summit; Sylvia of Arnold, Mo., and Cecilia of Colorado Springs, Colo.
