Camille Matches

Beautiful, bright, and beloved, Camille Maria Mendoza Matches was welcomed into this world on March 20, 1990. She smiled on the lives of many from the day she was born until the day of her passing.

Camille attended St. Regis Catholic School from kindergarten through eighth grade. She earned her high school diploma from Grandview High School. After graduating she became a licensed nail artist and gained many clients. She broadened her horizon and relocated to Arizona to be with her love of her life, Maurice. She continued to surprise the family and make us all proud, when she opened a nail salon with a friend. Camille fought and fought until she had to solely focus on her health.

In 2015, she bravely endured a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Despite many life changes and a positive outlook, the cancer returned in 2018. Camille did not give up. She began to educate herself about holistic practices to fight the disease head on. Always by her side, later that year Maurice pledged his life to Camille, and they were joined in holy matrimony.

Exploring nature, new adventures, and nutrition, all in the spirit of healthy living, was of most interest to Camille in the last few years. In addition, she inspired her family to make changes and encouraged them to truly understand the meaning of life. During the last few months, Camille and Maurice enjoyed sacred time with family in Kansas City in her mother’s home.

Memories of Camille will never leave her husband Maurice L Matches, mother Camille Akins, father Ernie Mendoza, grandmother Bonnie Akins-White (William), grandmother Susie Carrasco, mother in law Kelly Bronson, father in law Maurice Matches, uncle Tyrone Anderson (Ayanna) and several extended family members and friends.
