Carl Lee Dingus, 78, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away August 12, 2010 at home peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Dorothy; their four sons Ed Hubbard (Donna); Joe Hubbard (Melody); Mike Dingus; Dennis Dingus; and two daughters, Lisa Valdiviez (Ron); Julie Dingus (Clinton); and his pride and joy his thirteen grandchildren; Seven great-grandchildren. He also left behind many nieces; nephews; cousins; and good friends.
Carl was born on May 20, 1932 in Mound City, Kansas. He was a graduate of Mound City High School class of 1949. He will be joining in heaven his father, Chester Dingus; his mother, Ina Dingus; three sisters, Elizabeth; Ruth Dingus; and Donna Shahan; and one brother Marvin Dingus. He is survived by his four sisters, Eva Thompson; Nellie Davis (Don); Kathryn Dabbs, and Margie Dingus; and three brothers, Robert “Runt” Dingus (Sue); Clarence “Red” Dingus (Leta); Cecil Dingus.
Carl was a retired elevator constructor foreman for Dover Elevators and a member of IUEC Local #12. While he enjoyed and loved his job, his true passion was fishing. He was a member of the Olathe Sportsman Club. If you didn’t see him on the lake, he could be found sitting around a table at Mom’s Kitchen in Olathe with his “coffee buddies” which he also really enjoyed doing.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 17th, from 6-8:00 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 18th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Battlefield Cemetery in Pleasanton, KS.
