Carl W. Merrifield, 77 Lee?s Summit, went to be with his Lord on Thursday February 22, 2007 at home while surrounded by his loving family.
Carl was born in Kansas City, Missouri and was a lifelong resident of the area. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War. Before and after serving his country, Carl worked for the Kansas City Railway for a total of 38 years. After Union Station closed, he worked for Cherokee Hardware and Dillards in the Oak Park Mall until his retirement in 1992. Carl earned his Associate of Arts degree in 1980 at the age of 50.
His loving wife of 54 years Dee, his daughters Debra (Mark) Breitenstein, and DeAnn (Ken) Kuse, and his grandchildren Ryan (Felicia), Mikhail, and Jessica survive him.
Carl will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, February 26 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Overland Park. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, February 25 at the chapel.
