Mr. Simonie was born on November 14th 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was a graduate of Westport High School and received his Bachelor and Masters degrees in education from Central Missouri State University. He began his teaching career at Van Horn High School before moving to Rockhurst College and Pembroke Country Day where he taught English Literature. Later in Life he began a second career as a Benefits Consultant with The Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company and his own firm, Employee Plan Services and eventually the Bukaty Companies.
A lifelong fan of Tennis and the Cinema he served as a member of the Kansas City Film Critics Circle as well as President of the Missouri Valley Tennis Association and as Vice President of United States Tennis Association and in that capacity was part of the team that designed and built The National Tennis Center in New York City.
He was preceded in death by his Parents Jenny Abbott Foster and Frank J. Simonie as well as his daughter, Gia Ann Simonie and a stepdaughter, Sandra Rathbun.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Simonie; a sister, Sharon Beatty; a brother, Frank L. Simonie; his sons: Jon Simonie and Paul Simonie and wife Candace; stepchildren: Patti Gaughan and husband Tim and Tom and his wife Leslie; grandchildren: Abigail, Joseph, Laura, Richie, Addison and Vincent.
