Carol J. Mays, 65, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS from 6-8 pm. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, July 1st at 11:00 am also at the chapel. Burial will follow at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
Carol was born on December 7, 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama to Harold and Jean Weir.
She was preceded in death by her father Harold Weir. Carol is survived by her husband of 33 years, Dallas Mays, son Christopher Mays & wife Meredith, daughter Stacy Mays Hollis & husband Sam, 2 grandchildren Lily Hollis & Claire Hollis, & her mother Jean Baxter Weir. Nieces, Andrea Jones, Kelly Borel & nephews Nick Brummel, Joshua Widener, Zachary Widener, Brandon Weir, sister Janis Widener & brother Leslie Weir.
Carol was an advocate for the Alzheimer’s Association and the family would appreciate any memorial contributions sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, Heart of America Chapter, 3846 W. 75th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208 or to www.alz.org/kansascity.
