CAROLYN SHARP
Carolyn Sharp, 73, Overland Park, passed away peacefully July 6, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family. Born July 27, 1936, in Akron, Ohio, Carolyn was the first child of Sherwood Ullom and Jessie Leone Van Horn. Carolyn later moved to Cleveland, Ohio, and Pittsburgh, Pa., with her parents and sister. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Carolyn married Tom Buchanan on Oct. 22, 1955, and together raised three daughters. After living in St. Joseph, Mo., for many years, Carolyn relocated to Johnson County, Kan., where she resided for over 20 years until her death. Carolyn was an avid seamstress and held a variety of jobs in her lifetime, finishing her career with the Balls Food Corporation as a Training Specialist. Carolyn is survived by a sister, Barbara J. Hipsley (George) of Leesburg, Fla.; three daughters, Cynthia Secora (Steve) of Bartlesville, Okla., Jenny Malotte of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Lori Witham (Ed) of St. Joseph; six grandchildren, Michael Secora, Kristen Secora, Brad (Julie) Malotte, Leanne Malotte, Kari German, Mitchell German; and one niece, Paula Payne Burcham (Milo) of Cordova, Alaska; and several very close and special friends. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 9, also in the chapel. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph.
