Mrs. Cecil Sweany

Cecil Maxine Sweany, 82, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, also in the chapel. Internment will take place in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society . Cecil was born on Aug. 25, 1928, in Spickard, Mo. She was a loving wife, mother, and granny to her family. She was blessed with many friends and was a loving child care provider in Merriam, Kan., for over 20 years. Cecil was preceded in death by her parents, Zelma and Oral Griffin; sisters, Ginny, Patty, Becky, and brother, Loris; and husband, Edward Eugene Sweany. Survivors include her brother, Wayne Griffin; children, Melvin Eugene Sweany, Connie Lynn Ross, Mary Elisabeth Reed, and Shannon Eugene Sweany; grandchildren, Paige, Ashley, Jacob, Amber, Drew, Preston, Paris, and Janea; and great grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, and Adrianna.
