Charles E. Burger, 66, passed away on July 4, 2009 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Visitation will be held at D.W. Newcomer's Johnson County Chapel on Thursday, July 9th from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Services will start at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Disabled Veterans, American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
Mr. Burger was born July 25, 1942 in Kansas City, KS. He was the second of four children born to Raymond and Virginia Burger. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia A. Burger of the home; Son, Kirk L. Burger and his wife, Lisa; daughter, Kelly Burger; Three grandchildren, David Charles Burger and his wife, Nicole, Michael Ray Reese and Rachel Ann Renee Reese, one sister, Diane Hill and two brothers, Craig Burger and Kurt Burger.
Charles attended Shawnee Mission North High School, Rockhurst College and Finnely Engineering. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
Charles was active coaching and officiating baseball, basketball and wrestling over 21 years. He was a former member of the Overland Park Economic Development Board, Miami County 4-H leader and a number of other charitable organizations.
Charles worked for Westinghouse for 25 years. His greatest joy during retirement was spending time with family and friends.
