Charles Perna

Mr. Charles C. Perna, age 99, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010, at Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 3, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf with graveside services to follow at 2:00 p.m., at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Charles "Charlie" was born on February 20, 1911, in New York City, NY. Charlie could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. He started his life-long career in the milling industry back in 1927 when he was just 16 years old. He started with the Moore-Lowry Flour Mill in Coffeyville, KS, and finished his career in 1978 with Cereal Food Processors, Inc. in Kansas City, where he remained on as a consultant until the day he died. Survivors include; daughter Martha Hylton and her husband, Frank of Christiansburg, VA; two grandchildren, Mark Hylton of Purcell, OK, and Becky Presgraves and husband Dwayne, of Ashburn, VA; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Michal Hylton, and Zachary and Morgan Presgraves; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to The Salvation Army.
