Charles Benjamin Shank, age 77, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at his home. He was born February 15, 1934 in McKeesport, PA, the son of Madeline (Burns) and Charles Edward Shank. Charles was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served eight years. He later retired from General Motors after 25 years working as a Millwright Welder.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Marie “Jane” Shank; three children and their significant others Michael J. Shank, Kathleen Sullivan, Catherine Shank-Lawson, Donnie Lawson, Colista and Charles Antwiler; eight grandchildren, Brian Miller, Tiffany Clary, Allan Miller, Kaitlyn French, Colista Marie Antwiler, Robert Antwiler, Faith Shank, Christen Shank; one great granddaughter, Lilly’n Miller; loving niece, Laura Phillips-Burnett along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Cancer Action of KC, 10520 Barkley, Suite 100, Overland Park, KS 66212.
