Bill was born on May 29, 1925 in Portage, Wisconsin. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the Navy. He completed the V12 program at the University of Virginia with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Bill retired as a Lt. Commander after 20 years of active and reserve duty. As a Registered Professional Engineer, he worked for Allis Chalmers and Standard Oil companies in Milwaukee before moving to Kansas City to take an executive position with Gustin Bacon Manufacturing Company and its subsequent owners, Certainteed and Aeroquip Corporation. To keep busy after retirement in 1990, Bill took a part-time job as a Walmart Associate in the Hardware and Paint Department which he truly enjoyed. Golf and curling were lifetime sports for Bill. He had a standing Saturday morning tee time with close friends and was instrumental in introducing curling to Kansas City. As long time members of Village Presbyterian Church, Bill and Nancy began volunteering at its food pantry the day the doors opened and continued for more than 16 years. Committed to his community, Bill also volunteered at St. Josephs HealthCare Center. Over the years Bill and Nancy traveled in many countries and especially loved European river cruises, however his best times were spent with their children, grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nellie Mohr and grandson, Connor Mohr. He is survived by the love of his life, Nancy, his wife of 71 years, son John (Judi) Mohr, daughter Susan Bolton, son Jim (Penny) Mohr, grandchildren Kerin, Jamie, Tim, Kyle, Ellie and four great grandchildren. A private memorial service for the family will be held on September 3rd at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In memory of Bill, donations can be made to the Village Presbyterian Church Food Pantry 6641 Mission Rd Prairie Village, KS 66208 or charity of your choice.
