Charles "Dusty" Rhodes

Charles “Dusty” Rhodes, 94, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Jan. 5, 2017. He married Lillian Banka in 1947, and they were married for 63 years.  She preceded him in death in 2010. He was employed at General Motors from 1952 until 1956 and Delco Battery from 1956 until he retired in 1983. He was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He loved to play bridge, and enjoyed painting and working with his son after retirement.  His greatest love was his family.

Survivors include his children: William J. Rhodes, Charlene Lander (Gary) and Janice Hoop
(Chris). He’s also survived by six grandchildren: Kris Lander (Christa), Kyle Lander (Melissa), Kevin Lander (Justine), Karey Carroll (Kent), Scott Rhodes, Shelly VanPelt, and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. Jan. 10, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar
Ave. Overland Park, Ks, with service to follow at 11 a.m.; burial will be at Johnson County
Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Bethany Lutheran Church.
