Charles R. Heitman, 78 of Roeland Park KS passed away December 13, 2020, at his home with loved ones. He fought the battle of his disease with dignity and on his terms.
Charles was a lifelong Kansas City resident and participant in his community. He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church for 37 years. His service included school board member, Awana leader, and assistant Sunday School superintendent.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife Darlene Heitman, parents John and Eva Heitman, daughter Anna Schemm, sister, Dorothy Stockman, brothers; Freddy Heitman, Donald Heitman and Richard Heitman. Charles is survived by his children; Charles Heitman the 2nd, Cheryl Schemm, Lisa Sachse, Dean Rasdall, Sherri Hoelting, and Darryl Rasdall. Brothers; Johnny Heitman and Lester Heitman, sisters; Margaret Pfeiffer, and Judy Hoskins. Charles is also a grandfather of 26 and great-grandfather of 9, all of whom he held dear and spoke of often.
Charles worked hard all of his life. He retired from Kenworth Truck Company and then worked for many more years. He and Darlene took every opportunity to travel the U.S. and the world. His memories and stories always at top of mind. He was a friend that was rock solid and loyal. He loved people and he loved to make everyone he met smile. Jokes for everyone! He loved golf, a good laugh, and his family and friends. He is loved and will be missed greatly by everyone he touched.
