Charles Edward Ibenthal, 91, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013, in Leawood, KS.
Charles was born August 15, 1921, in Omaha, NE, to Gertrude Scotts and Otto Ibenthal, joining older sister Mary Louise (Dean). He attended classes at KSU and was a staff sergeant in the Army, serving in England and Europe during World War II. Charlie was a retiree of AT&T with 35 years of service, last working as senior engineer. He volunteered his time generously to the Methodist church as an Elder, as well as to the local hospital. Charles was a talented photographer who passed on his love of the art to his children. He took many remarkable photographs during his military service. Charles loved traveling in his RV, boating, the motorcycle he rode until he was 80, the sunshine and time spent with his family. He was a very kind man and will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Garnet and granddaughter, Claire.
Charles is survived by his four children, Charles (Molly), Mark (Donna), Lisa (Mike) Peterson and MaryBeth Ibenthal and grandchildren Ryan, Lauren, Lexie, Mitchell, William, Spencer, Nolan and twins, Hannah and Carly.
A graveside service for Charles will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, June 7, 2103, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Omaha NE.
