Charlotte Lorraine Hassig, 79, of Overland Park, KS and formerly of Kansas City, KS, passed peacefully on May 6th, 2012. She was born on March 3, 1933 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of H.B. and Luella Etherton Shively. She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters and granddaughter Julie Hassig. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Cecil Hassig. She is also survived by son, Ken Hassig (Sandra), daughter, Cari Hearn (Patrick) and grandchildren Kelsey and Grant Hassig; as well as many other family and friends.
Charlotte worked as a legal secretary for much of her life in various cities from Maryland to California but resided in the KC area for almost 60 years. She was adventurous and fun-loving and enjoyed travel. She and Cecil traveled to Europe extensively, including Austria, Frankfort and Rome, but her favorites were a train trip on the Orient Express from Venice to London and a surprise flight on the Concord from NY to Paris and then through the Chunnel to London. They also traveled to Spain, the Caribbean, Bermuda, Alaska, Canada, Hawaii, Tokyo, Thailand, Singapore, Australia and New Zeeland; just to name a few.
The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her during her final days. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 1st, 2012 at 2:00pm at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel. The family will receive friends at 1:00pm before the service at 2:00pm.
