Charlotte "Ann" Hovey, 73, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children on December 12, 2011. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, also at the chapel. Interment will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 6811 Shawnee Mission Pkwy., #202, Mission, KS 66202. Ann was born on October 9, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the only child of Charlotte and George Hoffman, Jr. The Hoffman's moved from Illinois to Kansas City where Ann attended Shawnee Mission North High School. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Kansas and then transferred to Lake Forest College for 1 year where she joined Alpha Phi Sorority. Ann then returned to Kansas City to continue her education at UMKC, where she met the love of her life, Bill Hovey. She found her greatest joy in her marriage and in being a mother and grandmother. Ann is survived by her children, William R. Hovey, III (Ruth), John Andrew Hovey (Anabel), and Cynthia Ann Beaty (Bob); and seven grandchildren, Alicia, Tommy, Mark, Becca, Danny, Ryan, and Ben.
