Clarence "Jack" Edwards, 91, of Raymore, MO passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Foxwoods Springs.
Jack was born on July 16, 1922 in Miami, OK to Clarence and Etta Edwards. He grew up and went to high school in Afton, OK, where he proudly played football.
He joined the United States Air Forces in 1942 and served with the 405th squadron of the 38th bomb group. Jack flew 47 attack missions on a Strafer B25 as a radio gunner.
In 1944 he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Swango. They had three children together, Rudy, twins Donnie and Debbie. They were married for 69 years.
He is preceded in death by one son, Donald James, his parents, and siblings.
He is survived by his wife Virginia Edwards; son Dr. Rudy Edwards and wife Connie; daughter, Debra Fajen and husband Larry; four grandsons, Dustin and wife Elizabeth of Tampa, FL , Jeffrey, Neal and Chad Edwards; one step granddaughter, Kari Kimmis.
Graveside service will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons – Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210.
In lieu of flowers family suggests donations to the Fellowship of John at Foxwoods Springs.
