Connie Mack Horned, age 81, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, March 28th, 2012. He died at home from the complications of a lung disorder. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd at 1:00 PM at Resurrection Cemetery at 83rd and Quivira, Lenexa, Kansas. He is survived by his wife Lynn and his son Jeffrey and his wife Mary, his sons Matthew and Christopher, his daughter Elizabeth, and his five grandchildren, Nicholas, Jessica, Garrett, Justin and Brendan. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn and his brother Joseph. He was preceded in death by his brothers Larry and Gary and his sisters Willie Jean and Madeline. Connie was a kind and compassionate man who touched the lives of many people. He spent seven years in the military and was proud to have been a member of the Elite Underwater Demolition Teams, which were later renamed the SEAL Teams. He camped for many years with the Boy Scouts of America, as he assisted his sons Matthew and Christopher to earn their Eagle Scout Awards. He spent his life as a sociologist fighting for the rights of those people less fortunate than he. He was also a sociology teacher at Johnson County Community College. He loved to read and to discuss politics. He was loved greatly and he will be missed. The family plans to dine at Ryan's Steakhouse at 75th and Nieman following the service and invites any who would like to join them for lunch.
