Curtis “Curt” Wilton Goode, 71, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on December 23rd, 2021 at his home. He was a graduate of Staunton River High School of Bedford County, Virginia; in 1968. After attending the Air Force Academy, he received his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1973 at the University of Colorado. While attending college there, he met his future wife Marcelyn Muchow at a party. They married in July 1972 and enjoyed many years golfing and traveling before having their beloved son, Christopher, in August of ‘79. Curt moved his family from Colorado to Overland Park, KS area in 1989 for work and stayed. He retired from Black & Veatch in 2015 after approximately 26 years. He was a member of American Petroleum Institute Subcommittee on Mechanical Equipment for an excess of 25 years, most recently chair of a task force leading a group of about 25 industry experts on updating technical standards. His technical expertise, experience and ability to develop a technical standard with other industry experts led him to be chosen for this role. Curt diligently attended conferences that are held twice a year for API to present the progress report on these standards to the whole committee. His expertise helped change these technical standards that will benefit the industry for years to come. Curtis loved to travel to many places throughout the United States as well as overseas specifically Europe and Italy. He loved the History Channel and had a lifelong interest in dogs, especially Golden Retrievers.
Curtis W. Goode is survived by his mother, Alice Sydnor of Huddleston, VA; son, Christopher, and his wife, Rachel, of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Camryn and Wesley; sister-in-law, Eve, of Huddleston, VA; nephew, Mark, and his wife, Belinda, of Huddleston, VA; niece, Cassidy of Huddleston, VA; and beloved dog, Abby.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcelyn; father, Arthur Wilton; and brother, Jerry Wayne.
