Daleen Marie Wilson

August 2, 1950 — January 8, 2025

Leawood

Daleen Marie Wilson, born in Wichita, Kansas, on August 2, 1950, was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished sister, and loyal friend. She passed away on January 8th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength and resilience.

Daleen was the daughter of Dean D. Hauserman and Lulu Bell (Stone) Hauserman. She grew up in a large, close-knit family, attending Linwood Elementary and Wichita East High School, before continuing her education at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. It was at Pitt State that she met the love of her life, James (Jim) Wilson. They married on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1976, in Overland Park, Kansas—a celebration of love that would last for nearly 50 years.

Daleen and Jim have two daughters; Tarah and Jaime. Tarah lives with her husband Andrew Kent in Bucyrus, Kansas, with their three girls, Ryan (13), Dylan (10) and Blake (8). Jaime lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband Drew Sandquist and their son Quincy James Sandquist.

Daleen began her career at K-Mart Company in Wichita as a trusted back-room cash counter. In Pittsburg, she was with JC Penny and was promoted to Hiring Manager. When they moved to Overland Park in 1975, she was hired as a Personnel Manager for a Venture store in Kansas City, Kansas. Then Personnel Manager for multiple stores based at 95th and Metcalf in Overland Park.

She continued to pursue her management position, receiving many merits until the birth of Jaime, when she retired. As a full-time mom, she transitioned to supporting Jim as he rose through the ranks in mortgage banking, starting with JB Nutter, then GMAC, and eventually opening his own company, Advance Mortgage with Partner Bruce Howard in 1989. The company flourished with Daleen’s help and it was later sold to an Oklahoma bank in 2015, after which Daleen and Jim had some extra time to pursue other interests.

As young adults, Daleen and Jim enjoyed traveling with friends and vacations with family. When Tarah came along, they purchased a house in Sunrise Beach, Lake Ozarks. This was and has been a joyful retreat for family and friends for over 40 years.

Daleen’s life was enriched by her family and she had five siblings, Dana, Darold, Daneil Rae, Daniel, and Dhon Henry (recently passed away). The Hauserman kids were a happy bunch. The three girls and three boys were outside types growing up with parents that were home and apartment builders.

Dean and Lulu Bell raised registered Black Angus on a many acres farm they owned in Fall River, Kansas, an hour South of Wichita. This became the family obsession: cattle that were certified, registered, counted, and named…the family loved their cows. The boys flourished as outdoorsmen, construction managers, and Apartment owners. Accomplishments included many shooting honors and national titles. The girls, Dana and Daneil, became teachers. Dana with a degree from Mid-America Nazarene College and eventually she added a Doctorate to her accomplishments. Daneil with her Wichita State degree taught school daily for many years and continues to substitute teach to this day.

Daleen had a good family but also a circle of good friends that covered many years. Far too many to name here, but they went something like this: Bootsie, Debbie, Nancy, Jackie, Peggy, Betty, Mama Lou, Cindy, Cathy, Kathleen, Dorothy, Lynn…

Daleen’s guy friends included: Joey, George, Andrew, Bob, Bruce, Freddy, Joe, Jimmy, Mike, Steve, Keith, Andy and more, but you get the idea. These were all cherished and lifelong friends.

For Daleen to make it 75 years is a real accomplishment. Rheumatic fever kept her in bed for a full year at the age of ten, which damaged two heart valves and required their replacement. She survived multiple mini-strokes and other issues, none of which were able to stop her. A special thank you to her wonderful caretaker of the last five years, Ruth.

She excelled in her family life, had a high business acumen, and was an accomplished sportswoman, including taking three first-place golf league championships. And all the time being the love of Jim’s life.

So off she goes, and heaven will be so much better off when she arrives, passing out hugs and kisses.
