Daniel Jay Hubbard, 80, Belton, Mo., passed away Tuesday, May 20, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
Daniel was born January 13, 1928 in Terrell, Texas, to Albert Jefferson Hubbard and Anna Lou Milam Hubbard. He was the youngest of seven children. He married Leona Kellogg on July 14, 1962, they moved to Kansas City in 1974, and then to Belton in 1992. Daniel was a WWII veteran. He was a police officer for 10 years and then moved on to security and various other jobs.
He was a member of Red Bridge Church of Christ. Christianity along with astronomy, education, and reading were very important to him. Daniel loved his family and he never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Albert; sister Eloise; twin sister Doris and daughter Mary Hubbard. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Leona Kellogg-Hubbard; children Rebecca Donaho and Danielle Galligani; stepdaughters, Donna Spengler and Debbie Sibbring; grandchildren, Victoria Galligani, Samantha Galligani, January Cantrell, Heather Donaho, Don Spengler, Laurie Clark, Mike David, and Soreya Evans; several great grandchildren; brother Bob Hubbard, and sisters Edith Randel, and Illa Butler.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2008, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 9500 W. 159th St., Stanley, Kan. Friends and family may meet at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel at 10:30 a.m. to drive in procession to the cemetery. Visitation will be held the evening prior from 6-8 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park.
