Danny O. Woodley, age 51, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. He was born on November 5, 1960 in Potsdam, NY, the son of Mae (Cary) and Leon Woodley.
Danny had the biggest heart in the world He would do anything to help a total stranger and even buy someone down on their luck lunch. He never asked for anything in return. He did it because it was the right thing to do and if he could make someone's life just a little brighter that would make him so happy. Danny grew up in upstate New York where he was a member of the Potsdam High football team. But Danny's real love of sports was in wrestling. His wrestling team won several New York State Championships with Danny winning many 1st place medals. Danny left Potsdam to come to the Midwest to visit his sister Charlene, and this is where he ended up staying. Danny started in Food Management, but started working his way through college for 13 years sometimes working two jobs to pay tuition when he finally earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1993 from Mid-America Nazarene University. Danny was so proud of this. In 1979, Danny met his wife by chance at a neighborhood store and they started dating. Through the first 22 years of their relationship, they always were best friends. Danny finally proposed marriage to Judy in the fall of 2000 and on October 6th 2001 Danny made Judy's dream come true. Judy finally got to marry the only man that she had ever loved. For 33 years of their relationship (including the times they were not married), there was never one night that Judy and Danny didn't call to say goodnight to one another.
Danny had a flourishing car business where most of his clients were repeat and referrals to all their family members because they trusted him to be fair to them.
Danny was a fighter and a survivor with an extremely strong spirit that was a gift to anyone who he came in contact with.
Despite being diagnosed with Cancer in the fall of 2011, Danny sailed through the chemo therapy with flying colors while still continuing to work. Danny had surgery to remove the last bit of cancer and sailed through the surgery with flying colors as well. Danny had beat cancer. When Danny passed away unexpectedly he was almost ready to go home.
Danny will be missed tremendously by his wife, "the kids" – (the dogs & cats), his family and all of Danny's friends that he touched throughout his life.
Danny Woodley truly had a wonderful life.
Survivors include his wife, Judy, of the home; his beloved Dogs & Cats which were his and Judy's children - Buster & Mr. Big, cats Romeo and Juliet; his Mother Mae McGregor; sister Priscilla Petty; brothers, Lee Woodley Jr. and Rodney Woodley, and many nieces and nephews that Danny was so proud of.
