Darlene Joan (Bodenstab) Larson, 76, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014, at her home in Roeland Park, KS.
Darlene was born December 21, 1937, in Waverly, KS, to Henry and Erna (Winter) Bodenstab. She was baptized on January 23, 1938 and confirmed on March 18, 1951, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Emma, MO. Darlene graduated from Concordia High School, Class of 1955. She was joined in marriage to Richard L. Larson, on December 21, 1963, by Reverend William Hepting, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Emma, MO. Darlene worked as a secretary for the Charles F. Curry Company from May 1955 until June 1969. She also worked for Medical Rentals from 1985 until 1995. Darlene was a longtime member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She was a devoted mother to her three children and caregiver to her special needs son, Kevin Larson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Richard Larson; three children, Angela (Dr. Christopher) Koenig, Brett (Dr. Kari Moore) Larson and Kevin; five grandchildren, Mikaela Koenig, Aubrey Koenig, Danielle Larson, Clarice Koenig and Zachary Larson; and one brother, Rodney Bodenstab, of Pilot Grove, MO.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 4153 Rainbow Blvd, Kansas City, KS. Interment will follow at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS. The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2014, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
