David Billings

David Del Billings, 62, of Mission, Kansas, passed away on October 4, 2019 in his home, surrounded by family and friends after a brave battle with cancer.

Dave was born in Kansas City and lived in the area all his life.  He graduated from Shawnee Mission West in 1974.  He attended HVAC School at Pittsburg State University, graduating in 1978.  He then went on to work in that industry, operating his own business, Billings HVAC, for many years.

Dave was a huge KC Chiefs fan and was so excited about seeing them play this season.  He also loved the Royals and KU Basketball.

All his life, Dave loved going to the lake.  He owned property at Lake of the Ozarks and spent as much time there as he could.  There were many happy family memories made at the lake.

Dave was a devoted father and grandfather.  He took special vacation trips with his children and grandchildren.  He especially loved trips to the Rocky Mountains and visited there many times.

Dave is survived by his daughter, Leigh Ann Billings, his son, Kyle Billings (Jessica), his sister, Janice Cissell (Roger), his brother-in-law, Richard McCulley, and his grandchildren, Aleigh’ja, Christopher, Kingston, Dayton and Dylan.  He is also survived by a special cousin who is like a sister, Terri Lukin.  And special friends Denny Giles and Dan Holloway, who went above and beyond to help Dave during his cancer battle.  They are examples of what it is to be a true friend.

Everyone will miss Dave – he was a good father, grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor.  But there is peace in knowing he was a Christian and is in Heaven, reunited with his dad, mom, brother and sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made in David’s name to: American Cancer Society or Great Plains SPCA.
