David Edward Brown, age 68, of Basehor, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 28th, 2013. He was born on May 8th, 1944 in Atlanta, Georgia to Edward Lee and Edith Louise Brown.
David will be remembered by his loving wife Lynne, his children, Emanuel Brown, Sarah Wheaton and Taylor Brown as well as four grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings, Ronald Brown, Ellen Brown and Rebecca Brown, his first wife, Lydia Brown, and numerous extended family and friends.
The second of four children, David was a polio survivor who transcended the scars of his illness through his dedication to his faith, his love for his family and his natural affection for people. Naturally curious, David sought to find meaning in everything that interested him. As a singer/songwriter, his compositions ranged from commercial radio jingles to deep explorations of love and faith. As a carpenter and contractor, he honed his craft from simple furniture to complex architectural projects. As a chiropractic consultant along with his wife, he worked to redefine how patients received care and how doctors could elevate their practice.
Throughout his life, and even through the long illness that ended it, David's considerable faith provided a source of strength and inspiration to those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held for family and close relations on Thursday, May 2nd, 2013 at 11:00am at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210.
