David Lester Erps, 65, passed away September 2, 2009, while undergoing open heart surgery. A Visitation from 4:00PM to 6:00PM with a memorial service to follow will be held at D.W. Newcomers Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas on Wednesday September 9.
David was born May 26th, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa to Lester and Georgia Erps. He graduated from North Scott High School in 1962 in Eldridge, Iowa and then attended the University of Arizona. He later served in the Unites States Air Force where he spent one tour in Vietnam. He was stationed at Richard's Gebaur Air Force Base in Kansas City in 1969 and has lived in Kansas City ever since. David spent 25 years in Automobile sales where his focus was on Mercedes Benz and received many awards and recognitions. He spent the last 15 years as the owner and publisher of The Resident Guide which is a local newcomers marketing publication.
David enjoyed golfing, skiing, boating, and most of all spending time with his Family.
His family writes: "David was the eternal optimist. He could find the good in every situation, and was always in a good mood. He was a very giving Father, Grandfather and a great friend. He adored his grandchildren and made a point to see them often. He will be dearly missed."
He is survived by his son Jason Erps (Cindy) of Lee's Summit, MO, his daughter Courtney Pollard (Chad) of Lenexa, KS. His 5 Grandchildren. His Mother Georgia Mae Erps of Davenport, IA. His Brothers Tom Erps (Doris) of Bettendorf, IA and Dick Erps of Eldridge, IA.
