David F. Gunther, 72, Overland Park, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 8311 W. 93rd St., Overland Park, KS 66212. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held the evening prior from 6- 7:30 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Indoor Mausoleum. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Action, Inc., 10520 Barkley St., Suite 100, Overland Park, KS 66212.
David was born November 27, 1936, in Bigelow, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie J. Gunther; wife Shirley L. Gunther; and sister Virginia Vogelsberg. Survivors include his children: Terri L. (Michael) Crowe, Susan G. (Kevin) Ludwikowski, and Karen J. (John) Obermeyer; grandchildren Russell G. Obermeyer, David K. (Rachel) Crowe, William R. Obermeyer, Franklin L. (Amanda) Crowe, and Tiffany J. Obermeyer; two great grandsons, Ean Crowe and Jack David Campbell, and his faithful four-legged companion, "Tramp".
