David Jewell

David Cameron Jewell, 74, Lenexa KS, formerly of Overland Park, died Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, KS.  David was born to George and Mary Jewell on July 24, 1946 in Rochester, NY.  A mass will take place for immediate family members on Monday, December 28, 2020 at St. Michael, the Archangel Church in Overland Park, KS.  It will be live streamed at 10 am using www.stmichaelcp.org/ecatholic-live .   Private burial services will follow at Corinth Cemetery in Prairie Village, KS.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Parkinson’s Foundation of the Heartland, 8900 State Line Road, Suite 320, Leawood, KS 66206.

David graduated from Gates Chili High School, Rochester NY, in 1964 and attended Morrisville Technical College, receiving his Associates degree in Automotive Technology in 1966.  He attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI for one year and then enlisted in the United States Navy.  He was honorably discharged as Second Class Petty Officer after four years and three cruises to Vietnam.  After his service in the Navy, he finished his Bachelor of Science in Automotive Engineering.  Soon afterwards, his mother introduced him to Elise, who he later married and was the love of his life.  He worked in electrical and automotive sales for many years, before retiring in 2013. David loved meeting new people.  In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, woodworking, and listening to jazz music.

David is survived by his wife, Elise Jewell of Lenexa, KS;  his daughter, Deborah Duckworth and her husband, Mark and their two children, Cassidy and Shane of Grain Valley, MO; his son David Jewell and his wife, Lisa and their three children, Kellie, Ashlie, and Tyler of Shawnee, KS; his son Douglas Jewell and his wife, Vanessa and their two children, Christian and Annalise of Overland Park, KS; his sisters, Linda Sullivan of Huntington Beach, CA and Nancie Dalke of Overland Park, KS.
