David Rameden

January 20, 1957 — February 26, 2012

David A. Rameden, 55, of Overland Park, KS, passed away unexpectedly on vacation February 26, 2012, on a mountain overlooking Lake Meade near Boulder City, Nevada.
Dave was born January 20, 1957 in Minot, North Dakota, and then moved to Minnesota, graduating Valedictorian at Forest Lake High School in 1975. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1980, and proudly served in the U.S. Army as an infantry officer. He later received a degree in Operations Research from Stanford University, returning to West Point as an Associate Math Professor. Dave ended his Army career in 1992 as an Operations Research and Systems Analyst at TRADOC Analysis Command at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. He graduated from UMKC's joint Law School and MBA Program in 1995, and joined the law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, L.L.C., where he became partner and worked until his passing. Dave was past president of the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel (KADC), a member of the Defense Research Institute, and former president of the Earl E. O'Connor American Inn of Court.
Dave was thoughtful, generous and supportive to his friends and family, and a mentor to many. He loved his work, and was also an avid Vikings football fan, enjoyed travel, golf, cooking, entertaining, and loaning his many gadgets to friends.
Dave leaves behind his loving wife of 31 years, Jaime Theobald; their beloved Cocker Spaniels Maddie, Callie, and Tiger; his three sisters, Theresa Rameden of League City, TX, Mary Daly of Hudson, Florida, Karen Gionson of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; many nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his large Theobald extended family and numerous friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Kassen and Luella Rameden.
A Celebration of David's life will be held Saturday, March 10th at 1:30 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas Legal Services to support their pro bono work, or SHB's Lawyers 4 Kids program.
