Mr. David Rittmaster
February 8, 1937 — September 17, 2015
David G. Rittmaster, 78, died on September 17, 2015. He was a member of The New Reform Temple and an Honorary Director of Rockhurst College. He was a graduate of Kansas City’s Northeast High School, The University of Missouri and the United States Marine Corps Officer Candidate Course, Quantico, Virginia. He served as a Commissioned Officer during the Vietnam era and was awarded the Purple Heart.
David was a co-founder and director of the First National Bank of Overland Park and co-founder and director of The First National Bank of Shawnee. He also served on the board of directors for Mercantile & Mark Twain Bank, and was the Vice President of a Kansas City based Life Insurance Company. Additionally, David served as a director of Mid-America Cinema.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Rittmaster; mother, Lillian Wilson; step-father, Clay Wilson; grandson, Louis Rittmaster; and daughter-in-law, Annette Walahoski Rittmaster.
He is survived by his brother, Louis Rittmaster; daughter, Libby Valiente; son-in-law, Hugo Valiente; son, Daniel Rittmaster; and many grandchildren.
A funeral service will take place at 10:30 AM, Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Yukon Chapel at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 5529 Ditzler Ave., Raytown, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions in David’s name be sent to Kansas State University Foundation, Ralph and Ruthana Lashbrook Scholarship, 2323 Anderson Ave., KS 66502 or Kansas City Hospice, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64111.
