Mr. Dean Tracy

January 4, 1911 — January 22, 2007

Dean C Tracy, 96, passed away Monday, January 22, 2007.

He was the third of four children born to Amelia M. Belshe and Charles F. Tracy. In his youngest years, he grew up on the family farm in northern Missouri. Despite an orthopedic injury in his youth, he never allowed his injury to slow him down or limit him in any way. Instead, he embraced the challenge. A strong and muscular young man, Dean went on to compete in shot put in college at William Jewell. He continued to be an avid sports fan throughout his life. As an adult, Dean earned his masters degree at MU, and became a CPA through the University of Illinois. He worked as a Professor at Southern Illinois University, a teacher and principal at several different schools, and for four different accounting firms before accepting an accounting position with the Department of Agriculture, where he worked until retirement. He was an avid fisherman, bowler, and card player, writing a book on the intricacies of Black Jack. A self-reliant and quiet man, he loved his family, and will always be known for his sharp mind, his love of athleticism, and the twinkle of laughter in his eyes.

Dean is preceded in death by his wife, Dee, and his older siblings, Allene and Clifton. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn, his three children, Doug, Christine, and Mark, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Dean was a wonderful man, and will be greatly missed by his family.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Saturday, January 27 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the services at the chapel. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
