DEMA D. POPE, 85, Leawood, KS, passed away peacefully at Kansas City Hospice House, on January 24, 2013.
Dema was born May 1st, 1927, in Block, KS. In December 1948, Dema married Clifford (Cliff) H. Pope.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She donated many hours to numerous charities. Dema enjoyed her quilting class and weekly bowling league. She will be especially remembered for her kind heart, work at her church and being a dear friend to so many.
Dema was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford (Cliff) Pope; parents, Elizabeth Prothe Oberheide and John Oberheide; brother, Elver Oberheide; and grandson, Robert (Bobby) Lowe.
Survivors include sons, Steve Pope of Stanley, KS, Dennis Pope of Fort Worth, TX and David (Cinda) Pope of Independence, MO; brother, Damon Overheide of Block, KS; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Interment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar Avenue, Overland Park, KS 66207.
