Richard (Dick) Walter, 92, formally of Overland Park, KS, passed away August 30, 2020, in Springfield, MO.  Dick was born in Kansas City, MO, to Dewey and Anne Walter.  Dick married his wife Jean in 1948, and received his Bachelors degree from Kansas State University.  He worked at D.W. Newcomers as their accountant and treasurer.  Dick and Jean retired in 1989, and moved to Lake Pomme De Terre, Hermitage, MO, sharing their love for boating and other lake activities.  After an active life here the city, playing trumpet with the O.P. Civic Band and Orchestra, and founding the Johnson County Jazz Band.  He was able to share his musical hobby with his church and several area bands.  He continued his memberships with the Masonic Lodge and Shriners Clubs.  He also renewed a previous passion for golfing.

He is predeceased in life by his parents and his sisters, Betsy McMillan and Kitty Lamb; his wife, Jean, and their sons, Rick and Mike.

He is survived by his only daughter, Lisa Williams, her husband Bill, and their children, Kierstin and Dakota.

A private family service was held at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.  Donations are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
