Don Miskew, 70, loving husband, father, friend and colleague passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8th at home with his family by his side. Don was born on October 24th 1942 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Walkerville High School in 1959. He then attended the University of Windsor earning a B.S.C degree in 1965. In 1969, Don graduated from University of Western Ontario Medical School. He completed orthopedic surgery training at Queen's University Hospital in Kingston Ontario and McGill University Montreal, Quebec. Don and his young family moved to Chicago Illinois where he was on staff at Cook County Hospital. In 1980 the family moved to Overland Park KS where Don joined the orthopedic practice of Kozikowski/Whitehead. He remained in private practice until his retirement from Midwest Orthopedics in 2011.
Don met his wife, Gail, 50 years ago in his hometown of Windsor, Ontario. On June 1st, they celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary with a Champagne toast joined by close friends and family. In addition to Gail, Don will be deeply missed by his two children; Sarah of Kansas City, MO, Brian of Wayne, PA; his sister Kathleen England of Roseville, CA, brother-in-law and friend, "Uncle" Greg and his devoted canines Bindi, Bernie and the "Lil" Chew - all rescued from local shelters. We will always remember our Don as smiling, proud, strong and "stubborn!"
We wish to thank the wonderful oncology staff of Shawnee Mission hospital, Dr. Ken Norton and Grace Hospice for the love and support given to Don and his family during these difficult times.
