Don V. Shea, 84, passed away November 14 at his home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Rainforth Shea and his wife of 55 years, Jeanne Maloney. He leaves a brother, Ed who lives in Hilton Head. He is survived by two children, Patricia Shea Dickinson (Wood) of Kansas City and Don Shea of Bradenton, Florida. He leaves eight grandchildren; Matt (Miranda), Elizabeth, Claire Perkins (Kyle), Kathleen, Mary, Andrew, Meghan and Margaret, as well as seven great-grandchildren; Jordan, Jalyn, Georgia, Piper, Lucy, Ben and Charlotte. Don was born in New York City on March 22, 1927. He attended high school at Fordham Prep and then joined the Navy October 3, 1944. He was a Gunner's Mate, Third Class in the Pacific Theatre where he earned The Victory Medal, The American Theater Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal. Funeral services will be Friday, November 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church at 1310 Westport Road, Kansas City, Missouri. There will be a Visitation prior to the service at 9:30. He loved skipping stones into the Atlantic Ocean, carving animals out of toast for his grandchildren, tennis, checkers, sailing and the beach. His presence will be missed.
