Don E. Thomas, 81, Overland Park, KS, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008. Private inurnment will be at a later date in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor the memory of Don through a random act of kindness or contribution to the charity of the donor?s choice.
Don was born January 16, 1927 in Alamota, KS. He was a teacher and coach in St. George, KS and later served as an agency manager for Farmers Insurance Group in Overland Park. He married Betsy Braddock on January 27, 1951 in Garden City, KS. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include a son, Dr. Steve Thomas and wife Renee, Milwaukee, WI; two daughters, Becky Sammons and husband Van, Atlanta, GA and Susan Conway and husband Kevin, Overland Park, KS; two sisters, Wilma Volpe and husband Lou, The Villages, FL and Arlene Smith, Minneapolis, MN; nine grandchildren, Sara Sammons-Ulmer and husband, Jamie Ulmer, Jenny Callaway and husband Jason, Todd Thomas, Lori Sammons, Amy Thomas, Katie Thomas, Matt Conway, Will Conway and Grady Conway; two great-grandchildren, Katie Callaway and Montana Thomas; brother-in-law, William Braddock and sister-in-law, Dianne Braddock; several nieces and nephews and Don?s many friends.
