Don Vick, 78, of Mission, KS passed away December 31, 2010 at his home. Visitation will be held Monday, January 3, 2011 from 6-8:00p.m. at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Funeral service will be held Tuesday January 4, at 10:00 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 11:30a.m. at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, Shawnee, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in his memory to Nall Avenue Baptist Church, 6701 Nall Avenue, Prairie Village, KS 66208
Don was born Feb. 26, 1932 to Ben and Vetress Vick in Pilot Point, TX and grew up in rural Madill, OK. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1957 with his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Don proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Nall Avenue Baptist Church. Don loved bowling, music, and the many members of his family.
Don is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Patsy, daughter Cydney Seifert(Scott), son Bruce Vick(Donna), granddaughter Stacey Brandt(Lee), grandsons Drew Eastman(Jamie), Beau Hartline(Nicole), Michael Vick, Chad Vick, Grant Hartline. Great-grandchildren Nathan, Ashley, Brian. He is also survived by his sister Patsy Ruth Dopson. Don was a man of dignity and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
