Donald Diegelman

Donald Gene Diegelman, 82, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away suddenly at the home on Friday, September 9, 2022. Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm on Friday, September 16, 2022 with a service to follow at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue; Overland Park, KS. Internment following the service. Don was born on February 17, 1940, to Billy J. and Connie (Knauer) Diegelman. He is survived by his wife, Sharen, of 54 years and a cousin Betty Forbes. Since Don was an only child, he enjoyed sharing Sharen’s nephew and niece and her children and grandson. Don spent 30 years teaching history to high school students in the Raytown, Missouri School System. After his retirement in 1998, he enjoyed many years of travel with his wife. They traveled to Europe, Hawaii, France, Italy, Scotland and Ireland and spent time from 2007 through 2021 traveling to many U.S. National Parks with a local travel company. They were preparing to go on a motor coach tour to Yellowstone National Park and more, the morning he passed away. He will be remembered for his generosity, good humor, love of history, and his enjoyment of televised tennis tournaments in his later years. We love you and will miss you dearly.
