Donald E. Davies, 77, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed into eternal glory on Monday, December 24, 2007 unexpectedly at the home.
Don was born March 14, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Earl and Marie Davies. He was the youngest of four children, was raised in Merrriam, and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School. He later attended the University of Missouri Kansas City. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era and was stationed in Alaska. He married Shirley Phipps on November 14, 1958 in Richmond, Missouri. Don was employed as a pharmaceutical representative for William H. Rorer, and later for Baylor/Norwich Eaton, retiring in 1992.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley. He leaves his two children, their spouses, and grandchildren: Scott and Lori Gilmore (Jesse and Kyle) of Overland Park, Kansas and Jeff and Kathy Davies of Qingdao, China. Other survivors include his brother Robert Davies of Topeka, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Virginia Broom of Shawnee, Kansas and brother Roger Davies of Naples, Florida.
Don will be remembered as a loving husband, dedicated father, wonderful grandfather, and faithful neighbor and friend. His dry sense of humor brightened every conversation. He liked to travel, work in the yard and garden, enjoyed hockey, college football, and remains a loyal KU Jayhawk. He will always be loved and remembered by those who knew him, especially his adoring family. Rock Chalk.

Visitation will be held at D.W. Newcomer?s Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas, Saturday, December 29 at 10 a.m.. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., private burial immediately following in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made in Don's honor to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
