Mr. Donald Kay Berry

Donald Kay Berry was born on May 10, 1922, in St. Louis,
Missouri. He was the only child of Myrtle Margaret Clayman
and Henry Kay Berry.

In January 1940, he graduated from Ritenour High School in
Overland, Missouri. He was employed by the Western Electric
Company until he enlisted in the Navy in November of 1942.
During World War II, while in the Navy, he was selected for and
attended Navy Officers training at Berea College, Berea, Kentucky,
and Duke University, Durham, North Carolina. There he completed
studies in Naval Science in November 1945 contributing half his pay
to support his mother. As World War II drew to a close, he declined
an Ensigns Commission and another four-year tour of duty, and was
honorably discharged from the Navy on December 15, 1945.
That same month Don was readmitted to Duke University as a civilian
student on the GI Bill and completed two years of legal studies in
September 1947.

In December 1947 Don became employed in the Southwestern Bell
Management Program. He progressed in mid-management in the
company retiring in April 1986.

In May 1951, Don married Dolores Gloria Pistone in a church ceremony
in Ferguson, Missouri. Don's work took them from St. Louis to
Springfield, Missouri where their daughter, Michelle, was born in 1955.
In May 1958 they moved to Leawood, Kansas.

Don is survived by his wife, Dolores, their daughter, Michelle
and husband Neal Goodson, and also their four grandchildren -
Dr. Justin Goodson and wife Heidi, and their children Dallin, Christian,
Bethany, Abigail; Nathan Goodson and wife Nikki and their children
Jacob and Merani; Dr. Jeremy Goodson and wife Lindsay, and their
son Evan; Angela Goodson Price and husband Travis and their son Riley.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the KC Hospice House,
12000 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO 64145.
