Donald Miller, 88, Overland Park, KS, passed away on Feb. 14, 2020
He was born in Calumet, MN. After high school in Coleraine, Minnesota, he volunteered and served in the Army for four years. He attended the University of Minnesota. Upon graduation he was employed by Wagner Electric in Minneapolis. On September 24, 1960 he married Shirley Peterson. In 1963 he began working with Sioux Tools, and they moved to Wichita, Ks, where their son Charles was born. In September of 1964 they moved to Overland Park. Their son Michael was born in 1966.
Don was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church and the Abdallah Shriners. After his retirement he volunteered as a driver for Abdallah Shrine by transporting children to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis, Missouri. He was an avid sports fam (Go KU), and enjoyed playing golf with the Senior Golf League.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roxa (Sawyer) and Charles D. Miller; three brothers Richard, Maynard and Dean, a sister Mae Ann. Survivors include his wife of 59 years; son and daughter-in-law Charles and Vicki Miller of Kansas City, MO; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Anne Miller of Denver, CO; two step-granddaughters, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 10am, a Celebration of Life service will begin at 11am, followed by a luncheon at Atonement Lutheran Church, 9948 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials the Atonement Lutheran Church.
