DONALD WILLIAM MONTER
Donald William Monter was born on July 28, 1920 to William Heinrich and Lillie Caroline (Nieman) Monter along with his twin sister, Clair Ann, on the family farm, just outside of Arapahoe, Nebraska in Gosper County. Don was baptized on August 22, 1920 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska. Don was confirmed in 1934. On September 15, 1940 Don married Luella Caroline Puls of Elwood, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Deanna Kay, Cara Sue, and Kent Donald. Don and Luella were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe most of their lives, until they moved to Overland Park and became members of Bethany Lutheran Church. Don's passion in life was serving family and friends with his abilities in construction, maintenance, and handyman work. Don is survived by his wife, Luella; and his son, Kent (Kathi) Monter; 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a twin sister; two daughters; two grandchildren; and one great grandson. Don passed from his Earthly life and celebrated the victory of eternal life on the morning of July 13, 2010 at his home in Overland Park, Kansas, with his family by his side. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 16, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, July 15, also at the chapel. Interment in Arapahoe, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Bethany Foundation Earmarked for Pastoral Education Endowment Fund, 9101 Lamar, Overland Park, Kansas 66207. Arrangements: D.W.
