Donald Supple

Donald Maynard Supple, 81, of Leawood, KS, passed away on Tuesday May 5, 2015.

Donald was born July 22, 1933, in Morristown, MN to Amanda (Tatge) and Ambrose Supple.

He graduated from Faribault High School in 1952. From 1952-1955, he served in Korea in the 5th Marine Regiment of the 1st Marine Division. He graduated from Mankato State University in 1960 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
In 1960, he began working for the Pioneer Telephone Company in Waconia, MN, which was purchased by what is today the Sprint Corporation; Don worked in the Human Resources Department.  His primary responsibility was contract labor bargaining in the Midwest Group of Telephone Companies. He retired from Sprint in 1997.

He was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Don’s family was his life.  He enjoyed outdoor sports, especially hunting and fishing, and received great pleasure in the many fishing trips he took to Canada with his family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling which included trips abroad, as well as annual trips to Oceanside, CA.
After retirement, he was a volunteer Vol-Star usher for the Performing Arts Series at JCCC and was an active member of the “morning coffee club.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret (Melhouse) and Marion (Stenhaug); brother-in-law’s, Edwin Lembke, John Melhouse, and Roy Stenhaug.
Don is survived by his wife, Lois of 59 years; daughter Kathleen (Richard) Woolery of Dallas, TX; son Daniel (Sandy) of San Bernardino, CA; grandchildren, Kimberly Bechtolt of Portland, OR, Lauren Woolery of Dallas, TX, and Tyler Supple of Woodworth, LA; and sister, Lucille Lembke of Burnsville, MN.

A visitation will be held from 10AM-11AM, with a service to follow, on Saturday May 9, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar Ave, Overland Park, KS 66207.  Entombment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens immediately following the service at 12:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society in Don’s honor. Fond memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.johnsoncountychapel.com
