Donna M. McDonald Powell, 53, Lathrop, MO passed away July 8, 2010 at home after a three year battle with cancer. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Monday, July 12, 2010 also at the chapel. Entombment will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Indoor Courtyard of Memories. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 6700 Antioch Rd., Merriam, KS 66204.
Donna was born August 1, 1956 in Kansas City, Kansas. She was married to Craig Powell for 16 years. Donna worked as a medical biller for University Physicians Associates for the past 10 years. She enjoyed spending her spare time with family and friends and researching genealogy.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lula Armitage and father, Roy Hardy McCollum.
Survivors include her husband, Craig Powell; son, Richard W. McDonald, Jr. and his wife Kelly; step daughter Tammie Weaver and her husband Terry; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
