Doris Lipscomb Harper, age 94, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Kansas City Hospice House. She was born March 20, 1920 in Rome, TN to John and Sally Lipscomb.
Doris and her husband Bill moved to the Kansas City area in 1948 when Bill started working for Trans World Airlines, raising their family in Leawood, KS. She was active in the Leawood Woman’s Club and a Deacon at the Village Presbyterian Church in the late 1990s. While Doris had a passion for cooking and gardening, her most cherished moments where those spent with her family.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Lucullus Harper and sister Kathleen Sartor. She is survived by her three children, daughter Gayle Schmidt and her husband Richard, son Gary and his wife Kathleen, son Gregory and his wife Nancy, four grandchildren; Brandie Schmidt, Amanda Grady and her husband Erick, Lisa Harper, Jason Harper, and a precious great grandchild Tessa Marie Grady.
The family will greet friends at 2:30 pm with the memorial service beginning at 3 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Claridge Hall at Claridge Court, 8101 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
Inurnment will be held in the spring with the blooming of the Dogwood trees at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, TN.
